Hello! My name is Amanda and this campaign is for my little 3 year old son, Avery.

Avery was born early at 25 weeks, a whole whopping 15 weeks early. 1lb 13oz and 13 inches long. His original date date was March 12, 2019 but decided November 28, 2018 was better. He struggled with life after being born so early. He couldn't breathe on his own for a long time. He spent a while in a incubator cause he couldn't control his body temperature. He couldn't wear clothes yet cause his skin was too sensitive and they needed to keep his body temperature regulated. Because he was born so early and unexpected he received level 3 brain bleeds. Brain bleeds work on a scale of 1 being the less severe to 4 being the most severe. Over night his bleed progressed to a grade 4. Things where not looking well at all. Because of his bleeds a clot caused him to develop hydrocephalus, or water on the brain. His head was expanding rapidly and he needed immediate brain surgery or switch to comfort care and allow him to pass.

I know BRAIN surgery on a baby weighed only a pound. Extremely fragile. It was frightening but I made the choice to go through with the surgery. Cause even if the worst outcome comes out that he has no brain activity, I would've kept him alive long enough to donate his organs.

He had two brain surgeries and they were both successful on draining the extra fluid in his head into his belly for the body to reabsorb. They said he would have no quality of life with 90% damage done to his brain. That he would just be here but not HERE. However as time went on and his 124 days in the nicu came to an end with him coming home a happy healthy baby. He does have several disabilities but he is the sweetest, most funny little guy I know.

He still has hydrocephalus it will be lifelong

cerebral palsy- life long. He cannot walk, crawl, sit up, feed himself, or talk clearly....yet who knows what's in store for him in the future.

Chronic lung disease- lifelong but manageable with breathing treatments if needed

Sensory processing disorder- lifelong but can be managed. In fact he just got past his fear of water and no longer screams during bath time.

Global delay- life long but can be improved

And many more minor things.

Today he is a happy healthy and smart 3 year old. He will be 4 in November and starting his second year of preschool. He loves school and his teacher. He's very bright and alert, talkative, friendly, a cuddle bug but growing fast. Insurance denied cause he just received equipment within the last 12 months. (His wheelchair)

I hope we can reach our goal even if it's without the tray and toy stand. Thank you for taking the time to read. Thank you for your donation and even if you don't donate I hope you would share this campaign and I thank you extra for that.

Love,

Avery and Amanda
