Meet Etana! She is our 5-year-old daughter and we adore her. She has lots of special needs and medical complications. Our parenting journey has been typical in some ways, but very atypical in others.
One of the things that is hard is all of the adaptations and equipment that Etana needs. A struggle that we have come across is going out and about to outings, parks or even around town together as a family. Etana has a wheelchair, but it is not stable enough to ride on anything more than very smooth pavement. I've nearly tipped her even walking along the very nice walking paths in town. About a year ago we began looking for a larger stroller for Etana. She has outgrown typical sized and even the larger special needs strollers that we had.
I came across the xRover all-in-one stroller after seeing a friend post a picture with her daughter in one. It is amazing! It has support for her sides and her head, which are often very problematic for her in any typical equipment. It can be used as a stroller, jogger and bike trailer. It folds up to be able to take out and about and, most importantly, it would give our family the opportunity to do so many more things together. The cost was extremely high, as most things are for individuals with disabilities, but I figured I would do some fundraising for it and get it when I could. Sadly, when I went to inquire about the xRover, I was informed that they were no longer being imported to the United States. We have just gone about our lives the way we had been, often with one of us staying at home with Etana.
Today I received an email from Tadpole Adaptive informing me that they will be receiving about 20 of the xRovers and they contacted us first as we had inquired previously. I am so excited for the opportunity to have access to this for Etana, but we do not have the funds to buy it as it was unexpectedly an option. I am reaching out to ask if others will help us get this for her. I can imagine her delight as daddy pulls her along behind his bike while we go biking around town! We would all be so grateful for any help in making this a reality for her.
